Was I despised so much
For my singularities
Was I so different
That I didn’t belong
Diving in the night
It’s where my restless soul
Awaken way before dawn
Way before the light and the sun
Way before the chant of birds
And it’s in the night
In the unconventional ways
Of the most hopeless places
That my soul
Find the freedom
Freedom it craves in those busy days
Of mindless sorrows
A race against time
Exhausted souls running
For an end to it’s own start
I pity their ways of living
While I ache every morning
Completely unaware
Of their own surroundings
Ironically filled with envy
Wishing that I could be like them
Completely unaware
To my own suffering
I can’t keep up with the noises
Nor I can keep up with the laughters
I wait for the darkness
While they run and run and run
I don’t think I belong
Even the light is blinding me
The second I look up for the stars
I was never meant to be like them
I was never meant to find comfort
In the light or in the movement
I was meant for the silence
Peaceful and consistent
Maybe I’m the darkness I seek
Maybe I’m the glitch in the matrix
Maybe I’m the shadows of days
Maybe I’m the night in a different shape
But I was never meant to be like them
I was never meant to run blindly
I was never meant to keep up
With their ideas of normalcy
Was I despised so much
For my singularities
Was I so different
That I didn’t belong
Was I just falling
From great heights
Or great highs
Was I just a fallen angel
In disguise
